Fellow Eagle Riders,
This will be my last writing as District 10 Florida Eagle Riders President. I will be stepping down to accept the Presidency of Spaceport Aerie for the coming year.
As you know we had our nominations at the May meeting. All the positions have been nominated and accepted. The elections will be June 1, 2008 at 11:30 AM at Merritt Island Aerie. Plan to attend and show your support for all our incoming officers.
We will have been formed for one year and four months as of June 2008. I would like to thank all the members who help me get this off the ground, up to District and finally to the Grand Aerie. I could not have done it without your help and the support of all the members along the way. During the past year, we have grown to be the second largest group in Florida and the fifth in the Grand Aerie world. Everyone had a part in this success!
As many of you know, this all started in December 2006 with an idea and Van Flannery’s backing to do a poker run for the Jimmy Durante Fund. By February 14, 2008 we had our first meeting – all seven members were there for the meeting. Shortly thereafter we developed patch and membership card designs and brought in the other Aeries in the District. The July meeting of the Grand Aerie brought us to their level. At our September meeting, as a great shock to me, the group had paid off their debt to me and we were in the black for the first time. We have managed to stay there ever since!
We have traveled down a very long, hard road over the past year. It is getting easier with each day and at each meeting. Please support our new officers as well as you have supported me over the past 16 months. Our group and the Eagle Riders across the State and the Nation have come too far to slow down now.
Nominated Members and Positions
Larry Green - President
Carol Green - Vice-President
Kathy Goodin - Secretary
Cecil Ogle - Treasurer
All will be voted upon at the June meeting. I hope to see you there!!

Fellow Eagle Riders,
Larry Green, our District Vice-President sent me this correction for the Haven Guild Breakfast to be held March 29, 2008 at the Palm Bay Aerie.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We do not need breakfast items to help defray cost of this breakfast.
We would greatly appreciate donations of boxes of cereal, children's snacks, Fruit Juices drink boxes, pudding or fruit cups,Fruit snacks,
Or Diapers for boys size med., lg., or Ex. Lg., or children' toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo, conditioner, baby wipes.
This is a small part of what is needed. We are hoping for a big turnout for the breakfast to enable us to buy other necessities for the children.
If you can't attend the breakfast and would like to donate items, please bring them to your Aerie and ask to have them brought to the April District meeting. I will pick up the items at that time.
Thank you,
Larry Green, Eagle Riders Vice President

Fellow Eagle Riders,
Due to previous plans of the Palm Bay Aerie we can only have an Eagle Riders Breakfast for the Haven Guild Fundraiser. Breakfast will be served at Palm Bay from 9:00 to 11:00 AM., at a cost of $4.00. Everyone is welcome to attend and support this worthy charity.
In Brotherhood, Fellow Eagle Riders, We had another productive meeting this past Sunday in Palm Bay. Once again, I would like to thank everyone that helped with donations for Haven Guild. Through your efforts we provided the children with the gifts they wanted for Christmas. The local newspaper has run an article about our help as has the Haven Guild newsletter. I will be sending copies to the State Aerie and Grand Aerie for their magazines. The more we do, the more we can do! Palm Bay Aerie will be hosting an all day Eagle Riders event with the proceeds going to Haven Guild. It all starts with breakfast in the morning and ends with Karaoke into the evening. Food will be served all day by the Eagle Riders. For more info on this event contact our Eagle Riders District Vice President Larry Green at ajoker@cfl.rr.com. It is planned for the last Saturday in March – 03/29/08 – at the Palm Bay Aerie. We are accepting donations to offset the cost of ad space in the State Convention program to help spread the word about the Eagle Riders. If you would like to donate, please give your donation to any bartender at Titusville or Palm Bay. Members of Cocoa and Merritt Island who would like to donate may contact me at eagleriders@bellsouth.net or Larry Green ajoker@cfl.rr.com. The Eagle Riders are planning a party and dinner at the Cocoa Aerie Saturday, June 21, 2008 to celebrate the Charter Year of the Eagle Riders and to install the new officers for next year. Plans are still underway so more info will be coming on this event over the next few months. Mark your calendar NOW to attend. Currently we have approximately 43 members. Most are renewal members but we have picked up 5 new members this month. We enjoyed a strong voice at the State and Grand Aeries over the past year. This was due in large part to the 116 members we had on our rolls until March 1, 2008. If we want to continue to be an active influence on the direction of the Eagle Riders in this Sate and the Grand Aerie we need each of our members to renew for the next year. We all worked long and hard to make this happen and get the status we have enjoyed. Don’t let it stop now – don’t settle for our Charter Year being our best year! Officer nominations for the coming year will start at the May meeting in Titusville. I will be stepping down as an officer of the Eagle Riders. I would like every member to think about this upcoming year and the part they will play in strengthening the group. Our next meeting will be at Space Coast Aerie 3550, Cocoa. The meeting will start at 11:00 am Sunday, April 6, 2008. Plan to attend – it’s more fun than you think!! In Brotherhood, Fellow Eagle Riders, February’s meeting went very well with a good turn-out. Thanks to all of those who attended for your support and input – it’s the way we get things done! This was our First Anniversary Meeting. We have been formed for one year as of February 14, 2008. I would like to thank all the members who help me get this off the ground, up to District and finally to the Grand Aerie level. I could not have done it without their help and the support of all the members along the way. During the past year, we have grown to be the second largest group in Florida and the fifth in the Grand Aerie world. Everyone had a part in this success! We have traveled down a very long, hard road over the past year. It is getting easier with each day and at each meeting. With renewal time at hand all our members should think about joining again to keep the momentum moving ahead. Our group and the Eagle Riders across the State and the Nation have come too far to slow down now. The membership voted on and approved several items as noted below. We officially chose Haven Guild Children’s Home as the Eagle Riders Charity for this year, ending June 1, 2008. We will choose another charity or stay with Haven Guild, depending on the vote in June. At this time Haven Guild has ask for donations of diapers. They have several babies in their care and the diaper bill is cutting deeply into their budget. If you would like to donate, please drop off a package of diapers at your Aerie. Also approved was the use of stickers/stamps for early bird, rider, patron, life member, charter member and officer to be affixed to your membership card. A By-law change was adopted to allow a life membership at a onetime fee of $100.00. This is good for your lifetime as long as you are an FOE member. Cate Tucker was the first member to sign up for a lifetime membership – Thanks Cate!!! Another By-law change was adopted to allow the group to provide a free lifetime membership for any President fulfilling their one year term in office. The changes read as follows: ***********************BEGINNING OF CHANGE******************* i. The Eagle Riders District Secretary shall collect Eagle Riders dues annually, by March 1st and forward said funds to the District Treasurer for deposit in the Eagle Riders account. Eagle Riders dues are $15.00 yearly. Life membership is available to Eagle Rider members for a one-time fee of $100.00. An Eagle Rider member must retain their Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie or Auxiliary membership to continue the Eagle Riders life membership. Dues may be changed by a majority vote of the Eagle Riders, at any meeting, only when a quorum is present. ii. Any Eagle Rider District President that carries out their full one year term in office, will be awarded a life membership for their dedication and contribution to the group. ***********************END OF CHANGE******************* We will be working on an inaugural party for the new officers in June. This will most likely be held at the Cocoa Aerie since it is centrally located for all the Aeries in the group. Any ideas or help will be very welcome. Dues are due by March 1, 2008. All Charter Members will always be Charter Members but if you renew before the April 6, 2008 meeting you will retain your Charter Membership number. If you renew after that time the number will be retired as will all the non-renewed numbers. I hope to see you all at the next meeting to be held at the Palm Bay Aerie on Sunday, March 2, 2008 at 11:00am. Until then...Stay safe out there! In Brotherhood, Fellow Eagle Riders, The yearly Eagle Riders dues of $15.00 are due by March 1st. Please fill out a new application then sign and date the appropriate statements and waver at the bottom. Return the form along with your payment to any Eagle Rider Officer, your Aerie's Chairman or your friendly bartender. Forms are available at your Aerie, online at http://www.foe3581.com/APPLICATION_FORM.html or by email at eagleriders@bellsouth.net If you are a Charter Member, you will always be a charter member, but it is important to pay your dues before our March 2, 2008 meeting to retain your charter member number. If you pay on or before our Feb 3, 2008 meeting you will receive an early bird sticker. Renew early and bring in a friend. Let's keep our numbers strong!! In Brotherhood, Fellow Eagle Riders, Don’t forget our Anniversary Meeting Sunday, February 3, 2008 at 11:00 am in the Merritt Island Aerie. I hope to see everyone there. In Brotherhood,

Fellow Eagle Riders,
I would like to thank everyone that attended last Sunday's meeting in Titusville. Unfortunately, only eight of our members were at the meeting, four members less than the 10% needed for a quorum. Since a quorum was not present we could not conduct the meeting with motions and voting. The disheartening part in the lack of participation of our members was the fact that District 9 came to the meeting and brought only one less member than we had in attendance.
We did discuss a few items that will be brought to the floor of the next meeting. Please attend so we may vote on these items before our membership renewal date of March 1, 2008.
We still need an Aerie Chairman for both Palm Bay and Titusville, and a District Secretary.
The next meeting will be held February 3, 2008, at 11:00 am at the Merritt Island Aerie, Merritt Island, FL. This was to be our one year anniversary meeting but we couldn’t vote on it.
I would like to see a good turn out for the last meeting of our first year as Eagle Riders.

Fellow Eagle Riders,
Great news!!! I was informed last evening that all the gifts have been purchased for Haven Guild! Larry and Carol, you did a great job putting this together on such short notice. I want to thank you all for helping these kids have a better Christmas.
I want our members that have not been to a meeting in a while to understand it may not be what you would expect. Although we follow Robert’s Rules of Order, we still hold the meetings in an informal manner with everyone having a voice and a vote. I honestly cannot remember one meeting when we did not have a good time and a lot of laughter. The best way to state it is, we started this group to have a good time and we do it at every meeting. Beverages and smoking are permitted, so now you have no reason not to attend.
Our next Eagle Riders meeting will be held at Spaceport Aerie 3581 on January 6, 2007 at 11:00am. Jo will have the bar open about 10:30am. This meeting will be for all members, as will every meeting from this time on, as the By-law change states. I have invited District 9 Eagle Riders to the meeting in reciprocity for our invitation to their meeting in September. Brett and his riders will certainly make a good showing. We now have 115 members throughout the District. Let’s all get to this meeting, especially those members from Titusville. Don’t forget to bring a friend – Eagle member or not.
This is the link to the Grand Aerie Eagle Riders site. http://www.foe.com/about-us/eagle-riders.aspx The one paragraph I want to bring to the attention of our members is...
"Eagle Riders offer members another way to get involved and be more active in their aerie or auxiliary. Eagle Riders has succeeded at attracting younger members to the organization as well, proving to be the fastest growing "club within a club" in the Fraternal Order of Eagles."
We have accomplished what we set out to do in less than a year. Any Eagle knows what an accomplishment that truly is in the realm of Eagles. It never would have come this far this fast without all the help and support of those that saw the benefits of the Eagle Riders from the beginning. Thank you all for joining and for all your help in getting the Eagle Riders to this level!
The Grand Aerie site has changed as has the situations we were concerned with in the past. At this point I am suggesting we table the letter we were sending to the Grand Aerie. Any thoughts on this are welcome.
Merry Christmas to all

Fellow Eagle Riders,
The attached list shows the gifts the Palm Bay and Spaceport Aeries have purchased for Haven Guild. There are only 7 gifts left to buy for these children. I’m asking the members from Space Coast Aerie and Merritt Island Aerie to fill in the blanks for us so we can have 100% of the gifts bought by the Eagle Riders.
Larry and Carol Green are coordinating the efforts for this charity. When you purchase a gift, or make your choice of the gift you would like to purchase, please contact Carol or Larry at ajoker@cfl.rr.com so they may cross it off the list. This will help prevent duplicate gifts.
If you can do this by the District meeting on Sunday, December 2, in Cocoa and bring it to the meeting, that would be great. If not the final deadline is December 15th for drop off at your home Aerie. Someone will pick up the gifts and be certain they get to the kids for Christmas.
I would like to thank Judy Kaufman, Ed Upthegrove, Nancy Scott and Jeannine Rising from Spaceport Aerie 3581 for their gift contributions to Haven Guild.
This is what the Eagle Riders do best so let’s finish it out and make this Christmas a little brighter for these kids. After what they have been through, they deserve to smile Christmas morning. I know I will when I think of them opening their gifts.

Fellow Eagle Riders,
There was an incorrect statement in the last email I sent to everyone. I misunderstood what I was told about the Palm Bay breakfast. I wrote that it was to raise money for the Eagle Riders. It is not. The Eagle Riders are preparing the breakfast but the funds will go to the Palm Bay Aerie.
The other correction is the Haven Guild gift deadline. Cocoa and Merritt Island Aeries' dates have been changed from December 2, 2007 through December 19, 2007 to December 2, 2007 through December 15, 2007.

Important Notice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The District 10 Eagle Riders meeting (not the District 10 Aerie meeting) scheduled for December 2, 2007 has been cancelled. We have soooo many members riding in the toys for tots ride that no riders (our officers included) would be left to attend the meeting. Our next meeting will be Sunday, January 6, 2008 at 11:00am. The final location will be announced right after the December meeting – at this point it is in Titusville.
Palm Bay Aerie Eagle Riders will have a breakfast Eagle Riders fund raiser on January 5, 2008 starting about 8:00am. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend.
Palm Bay Aerie is accepting stuffed toys on behalf of the Eagle Riders for the Bethesda Nursing Home. Please see Cecil Ogle with your donation.
Titusville Aerie is accepting gifts for Haven Guild Children Home on behalf of the Eagle Riders until December 1, 2007. A list of wishes and sizes is posted by the Eagle Riders board and the BIG board in the Aerie. Please pick a gift and write your name on the list. Cocoa and Merritt Island will be accepting the presents from December 2, 2007 through December 19, 2007. An updated list of gifts will be posted in those Aeries starting December 3, 2007.
This is truly a busy time of the year for “People Helping People” but working together we can make it all happen!
I hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas and a great and safe New Year!

Fellow Eagle Riders,
Unfortunately, Tom Tucker has decided to stepped down as our Vice-President. His resignation will be acted upon and accepted by the Officers at the November 4, 2007 meeting.
Larry Green, Palm Bay Aerie Chairman, has volunteered to fill the vacancy. He will be installed as Interim Vice-President until elections are held during our December 2, 2007 meeting. Larry has also volunteered to take the position through the end of the term in June. He will be nominated, along with any other members interested in the position, and voted upon at our December 2, 2007 meeting.
Considering the changes in officers and my pending absence from the November meeting, the by-law changes made during the October meeting will not be signed into act until our December 2, 2007 meeting, when all Officer’s positions will again be filled by permanence. The December 2, 2007 meeting will be a general membership meeting as will all others that follow.
At this time, Larry Green will continue as the Palm Bay Aerie Chairman.
Cecil Ogle, Treasurer, will open and run the November 4, 2007 meeting, in my stead. The Officers will accept and act upon Tom Tucker’s resignation as the first order of business. Cecil will install Larry Green as the Interim Vice-President as the second order of business. Upon that installation, Larry will take over the balance of the meeting.
Thank you all for your continued support as we move forward.

The Chairperson for any ride or party will be the Ride and Party Committee Person of the Aerie that holds the primary focus for the ride. As examples… The Aerie who’s member we are riding for as a benefit – the party point for the ride, etc. I would like to see all of us work together for each and every ride we hold. A few minor changes were made to the By-laws as handed down from the Grand Aerie.
Every meeting will now be a general members' meeting and not an Officer's only meeting. Now it's time for everyone to come to the meetings!!!! The next meeting is in Palm Bay at 11:00 am November 4, 2007.
A motion was made to write a letter to the Grand Aerie requesting representation for all Eagle Riders organizations to have a voice at the international level. This letter will be reviewed and voted upon at the November meeting.
A committee has been set up to write a “Ritual” for the meetings. Please contact Tom Tucker if you can helphim with this endeavor.
A committee has also been set up to plan rides and parties. Contact James Ansel Palm Bay, Terry Johnston Cocoa, or Jim Harper Merritt Island if you would like to help with this.
We can now have a 50/50 or a raffle at each meeting to help raise money for the Eagle Riders.
We still have pins available to everyone – not only ER members. The cost is $2.00 each and a photo of the pins is on the website. Palm Bay and Titusville have the supply at this point. Ask the bartender for a pin or two.
Don’t forget the Alzheimer’s Benefit Ride – Sponsor a rider NOW!
Remember the Minutes of all meetings and the Treasurer's report will be posted in your Aerie for review.

Fellow Eagle Riders,
No one came for the ride to the District 9 Eagle Riders meeting in Port Orange. That lack of interest prompted my decision that I could better spend my time working. Marvin Cook did stop in on his way to St Augustine. I will have a report from him by Monday evening. I’ll let you know what happened when I know.
I am in the process of putting a ride together for the first Saturday in November. November 3, 2007 at 10:00 am. So far I have a meeting at 10:00 am at the Cocoa Aerie – Riding to the Lone Cabbage Fish Camp – ride the back way to RT50 and into the Titusville Aerie then on to Merritt Island Aerie, down to Palm Bay and end at Cocoa. One of the Aeries should be able to provide us lunch but I haven’t checked into to it yet with any of the members.
Don’t forget the Alzheimer’s Benefit Ride in October.

Subject: September meeting
Date: Thursday, September 13, 2007 1:21 PM
Fellow Eagle Riders,
We are in the black and debt free - momentarily at least.
We held our Chairman's meeting in Titusville this past Sunday. The following are the items we discussed and our plans for the next meeting to be held at Merritt Island Sunday October 7, 2007 at 11:00 AM. Note the time change!
We decided to move the meeting to 11:00 am since we were being rushed by the District meeting start time.
Our General Membership meeting has also changed from Cocoa in November to Palm Bay on Sunday, November 4, 2007 at11:00 am. Please plan to attend this meeting. We have a few changes to the By-laws which will be handled during the meeting.
These are the changes I would like everyone to consider and send me your input. We will be discussing these at the October meeting.
Whether or not to have excuses of absent officers.
Changing the Officer's titles from District Chairman to District Pres, District Vice-Chairman to District VP. Other positions will remain the same.
Changing the Chairman's meeting to a General Membership meetings each month.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We now have Eagle Rider pins for sale at Palm Bay and Titusville. $2.00 each.
There are a few hats and vests left. All are now at Palm Bay.
A letter has been sent to each Aerie in the State explaining the Eagle Riders. It was sent to encourage membership and offer our help to setup Eagle Riders groups at other Aeries and Districts.
There will be a District 10 Picnic at Viera Park on November 11, 2007 starting about 11:00 am. Everyone is welcome to attend. Each Aerie has a sign up sheet to help with food ordering. District 9 Eagle Riders have been invited to join us for the party.
We are invited to the District 9 Eagle Riders meeting this Saturday at 1:00pm at the Port Orange Aerie. Weather permitting, we are meeting at 11:30 am at Titusville to ride up together and stop at the Edgewater Aerie on the return trip.
Tom Tucker, our Vice-Chairman, has offered (been drafted) to set up a rituals committee to write the meeting protocols. He could use a little help and input. If you are interested in helping him with the endeavor, please contactme and I will put you in touch with Tom.
We would like to form a ride committee to help organize rides, parties and fundraisers. Anyone interested in working on this committee please contact me. I am hoping this committee can get more people together to ride. To date, every ride has been cancelled by lack of interest.
I would like everyone to check the Grand Aerie Eagle Riders website and give me your thoughts on the site.
As many of you know, we have ad space for sale on our site for business use. Classified ads are available to Eagle Rider members free of charge so let's start selling stuff. The more people we can get to the site for any reason the better we can spread the word about the Eagle Riders. Everything you need to know to get an item listed is on the site. www.foe3581.com
We are now setting up a checking account for the Eagle Riders. This should be accomplished in the next week or two.
Don't forget the Alzheimer benefit ride in October. Our site has everything listed about the ride. www.foe3581.com
We want to help Aeries with their fundraising efforts as Palm Bay is helping Titusville with the Alzheimer Benefit Ride. Please bring this up at your next Aerie meeting. We only need to know what they would like us to do to help them in raising money for the FOE charities. Not to mention it is a great reason for a ride and party.
I hope to see you all at the next meeting. Ride Safe!!
